Whitestown's holiday season in 2026 starts before the lights go on. The Town of Whitestown has moved its Main Street Park lighting to Friday, December 4. Santa's Workshop in the same park still opens on November 28, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. So the season's first Santa's Workshop now happens six days before the ceremony that used to open it.
The new order changes how a December weekend in Whitestown fits together. It changes how many workshop Saturdays there are, and it puts two town events on the same Saturday at two different addresses.
In 2025 the lighting was called Merry at Main. The town held it over Thanksgiving weekend at Main Street Park from 5 to 7 p.m., with food and drinks for sale, a visit to Santa's workshop, and the park lighting at 7 p.m.
The 2026 version has a new name, Light Up Main, and the same basic format. It runs Friday, December 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Main Street Park, 4286 S. Main St. Local food trucks will sell food and drinks, and the park will be lit around 7 p.m. The town has not yet posted the food and beverage lineup. On the Town of Whitestown's event page, Parks and Recreation describes it this way:
"Enjoy a brand-new holiday experience with festive fun for all ages. Indulge in delicious food and treats, visit Santa in his workshop, and celebrate the season with family and friends."
The location and the two-hour window match last year. The date is what moved, and that one change also shifts Santa's schedule.
Last year's Santa's Workshop ran on three Saturdays, December 6, 13 and 20, 2025. All three came after the park was lit. This year the town lists four Saturdays, starting November 28 and ending December 19. Each runs noon to 2 p.m. at Main Street Park. Photos are free, and the guest changes every week, with Santa as one of them.
That adds a fourth workshop Saturday, and it falls on Thanksgiving weekend. The town's full holiday calendar so far looks like this:
| Date | Event | Location | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saturday, Nov. 14 | Winter Market | Whitestown Municipal Complex, 6210 Veterans Drive | 9 a.m. to noon |
| Saturday, Nov. 28 | Santa's Workshop | Main Street Park, 4286 S. Main St. | Noon to 2 p.m. |
| Friday, Dec. 4 | Light Up Main | Main Street Park | 5 to 7 p.m., lighting about 7 p.m. |
| Saturday, Dec. 5 | Santa's Workshop | Main Street Park | Noon to 2 p.m. |
| Saturday, Dec. 12 | Winter Market | Whitestown Municipal Complex | 9 a.m. to noon |
| Saturday, Dec. 12 | Santa's Workshop | Main Street Park | Noon to 2 p.m. |
| Saturday, Dec. 19 | Santa's Workshop | Main Street Park | Noon to 2 p.m. |
Light Up Main now falls the night before the second workshop Saturday, December 5. The first Saturday of the season goes to the workshop alone.
Whitestown's winter events happen in two places. The Winter Market is held indoors at the Whitestown Municipal Complex on Veterans Drive. Santa's Workshop and the lighting are outdoors at Main Street Park.
On most weekends this season only one of them is open. On Saturday, December 12, both are, and one picks up right where the other stops. The Winter Market runs 9 a.m. to noon, and Santa's Workshop opens at noon. The posted schedule puts a morning of local shopping right before an afternoon at the park.
The 2026 to 2027 market season is advertised as a once-a-month indoor market. It will sell home goods, farm products, baked goods and crafts, with live music. So far the vendor list names two businesses: Nala's Nook under baked goods and PSR Designs Personalized Gifts under gifts. The farm goods, handmade crafts and soaps, and retail categories are still empty, and the town says the music lineup is "coming soon." The vendor list will fill in between now and November 14, and that's the page to check.
Some of last year's holiday events have no 2026 dates yet. In 2025 the town ran them like this, according to its 2025 holiday announcement:
Those are last year's dates, so don't count on them for 2026. The 2025 announcement came out November 19, 2025, which suggests this year's version may also arrive close to Thanksgiving. Last year the parade fell on the same Saturday as a Santa's Workshop session. The 2026 parade date will decide whether any Saturday this December ends up with three town events.
Santa's Workshop runs over the lunch hour, from noon to 2 p.m., so many visits will run into mealtime. Main Street has local options nearby. L.A. Cafe lists its address on its own website as 4 South Main Street, Whitestown. Hattie's Coffee House is the Main Street coffee shop featured by the Indianapolis Coffee Guide in January 2025. Check each business's current holiday hours before you plan around it.
The biggest change in town since last December is out by the interstate. Wally's held its grand opening on June 30, 2026, at 4155 Albert S. White Drive near I-65. Current reported that it is the chain's third and largest location, at 53,000 square feet. It has more than 70 gas pumps, a cafe and bakery, pizza, a grill, beer and merchandise, and it is open 24 hours a day. This will be its first holiday season in Whitestown. It's an easy place to fill up the car and pick up something from the bakery before the drive to Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Santa's Workshop wraps up on December 19, but the Winter Market keeps going. It returns to the Municipal Complex from 9 a.m. to noon on January 9, February 6 and March 6, 2027. That gives the town at least one community event each month through the cold season, all at the same address on Veterans Drive.
